Handmade / Knitting projects

Good morning!

Last night I was talking about knitting, yarns and patterns with one of my sisters because she is into all crafts and knitting too. I then realized I haven't shown you guys my latest knitting projects that I am working on. So, here's a little post about them...

My co-worker borrowed me this book about leftover yarn. It is called "Neulo, virkkaa, kirjo Jämälangasta" and that means "Knit, croche, embroider with leftover yarn". I like this book a lot because I always have little bit of yarn that is left from my knitting. There is not enough of yarn to knit something by that leftover yarn itself but when you combine all the leftover yarn, you can knit pretty cool things. This book gives you ideas of things you can knit. Or crochet. Or embroider. (*smile*).

Here's the cover...

One idea in this book is to make little patches that has pictures of animals on them. Then you can combine the patches and make a blanket out of them. Or you can use one patch on a scarf or sew it on a sweater or a bag.

I have not knitted patterns ever. Unless you count stripes (*wink*). But I decided to learn how to use more than one color of yarn. I picked a simple design of a bunny. It looked easy but it wasn't. I knitted and then realized I did it wrong and I had to start all over again. Then I made it too tight of a knit and I had to start again. But eventually I got the hang of it and I actually finished the bunny.

Here's the bunny with out the ears...

Full bunny! Now I just need to embroider some eyes, nose and teeth. I'll show the final product on a later post once I'm done with it.

Here's a little patch of basket weave I was practising on. Maybe later I will combine this with the bunny and make a little cell phone bag... or something...

Here's me... the knitter who is still learning...

My latest learning curve... I'm trying to make an argyle pattern... It is coming a long pretty ok. This one I'm hoping to make into a purse... We shall see if that happens. I love to knit from this Jumbo yarn from Novita because it is so thick that it doesn't take much time at all to finish what ever you are making.

On this book there is also a pattern for a tunic that looks pretty cool. I might attempt to make that if I have enough yarn. The only problem is to have enough of yarn that is the same thickness.

What do you think about this tunic?

Anyway, I won't be knitting tonight because I will be baking some creepy Halloween cookies with my friend... But as always... more about those later....
