Hi there!
As you may know I love to try new things. So when I heard about Dr.Oetker's summer campaing about grilling pizzas I got excited. They were looking for people to test out which pizzas work the best and on what type of grills. Luckily they chose me to be in their test group.
Our first pizza grilling tryout was on a open fire grill with a pizza stone. We already thought that it might not work since we didn't have a cover that would keep the heat all over the pizza but we gave it a try anyway. The bottom of the pizzas burned but we were hungry and ate it anyway. Pizza is never bad (*wink*).
To top off our summer pizza night I served strawberries, basil and balsamic vinegar to go with the pizzas. That combo sounds weird but actually works really good even if you put it on the pizza.
Anyway, here's pictures from our midweek grill night. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed this experience. Oh, and stay tuned because we will be trying on different pizzas on another grill later on.
Ingredients for a fun night.
Smells like summer.
I let the first pizza thaw out a bit and then placed it on cold pizza stone to see what happens and how it cooks.
Waiting for the fire to burn down a little.
Ready, set, grill!
Still cooking.
Little ladybug came to say hi to me while I was waiting for the pizza.
Yep, it burned.
Cheese was nice and melted though.
Strawberries, basil and balsamic vinegar on top of the pizza. Awesome combo!
Next we tried salami pizza, not thawed, on hot pizza stone.
We roasted some marshmallows too! Yummy!
Bit burned or not, pizza is still good.
Dr. Oetker Rustica pizza might a bit thick to be cooked on a grill because once the cheese was melted the bottom got burned. I'll try the thin crust pizza next time.
We noticed that the hot pizza stone was worse than cold one because this second pizza burned more than the first one.
Hot melted cheese. Oh yum!
All gone! Boys will eat anything, and hungry girls too (*giggle*).
Happy weekend!
