Trash Bag Spider And Optical Illusion Dress

Our Halloween Bash will be legendary! Just the mere amount of decorations will make this party a hit. Check out this Ferocious Spider that my friend Klaara made last night. Isn't it awesome? 

It is made out of one big trash bag that is filled with newspaper. Then Klaara cut long strips out of another trash bag and attached them as legs. The mouth and eyes are made out of white card board. All put together with tape. Simple, cheap and effective! This bad boy will be hung up in the ceiling, where he can keep his eyes on every guest. If anybody is behaving badly, he will catch the person with his web (*evil laugh*).

And finally something else besides Halloween... Remember some time ago when all the stars were caught wearing designer Stella McCartney’s amazingly slimming dress called the Bicolour Octavia. I think Kate Winslet was the first one to wear it but there has been countless of others wearing it too. Here's Kate and Liv. Don't they look curvy and slim?

So, what's the secret to this this dress? The slimming effect is actually due to very clever color-blocking. It has panels of contoured, colored stretch fabric in the front and back, and stretchy black panels at the sides. The black panels are barely visible and that forces the eye to focus only on the contrasting panels. Thus giving the wearer the illusion of having a more slender, yet more curvy figure. An optical illusion really. 

Since Stella McCartney’s dresses aren't that cheap, I was excited to find a similar kind of dress at H&M. It has the same black panels on the sides that create the illusion of an hour glass body. It also has long sleeves which I need because I wouldn't do much with a short sleeve one in the winter. 

And you won't believe the price I paid. It was on special sale for 4,95 euros (*original price 14,95e*) Gotta love that!!

And I love the forest green color as well. I think it compliments my reddish hair.

You can also get this dress in burgundy, grey and black. I was thinking I might buy the burgundy one too... It would be really pretty and it seems to be the hot color of this season.

 That's my post for today. I don't have much planned for rest of the evening. I think I might watch the newest episode of Revenge and How I Met Your Mother.

And while I do that, I'll start stuffing Harry the Hangman. He still needs a body, so we can hang him on Saturday.

Oh, I do need to figure out something for dinner tonight too... Crap! We have nothing good to eat in the fridge. I have been to consumed with all the Halloween  planning.
