Did you like my hand sized yarn voodoo doll that I showed you yesterday? It's pretty wicked if I may say so. It turned out better than I thought it would. I was just really bored yesterday morning and started to think how I could make one.
Well, here's a tutorial how to construct one of your own. I'm not guaranteeing that it works for voodoo but it sure looks cute and makes a funny gift for someone you know that doesn't get offended about stuff like this. This is also a great project to get rid of your left over yarn (*all knitters always have a ton of it*). If you don't want to make a voodoo doll, you can make any doll with this same method.

You will need:
-masking tape
-scissors
-different colored yarn
-glue
-felt
-button
-beads
-needle
Start by making a skeleton for your doll with masking tape. Roll a big ball for the head and then construct a body. For the last layer of tape I made it so that the sticky side of it was outward. This will help you to start rolling yarn because it will stick to the tape.
Next you can start to roll yarn to make the doll's body. Make sure to roll the yarn really tight, so it will hold. I made different body parts in sections, and I cut the yarn in between each section. This helps to make it stay put. I also used a little glue on the tricky parts like hands and feet, this ensure that the yarn doesn't start unraveling.
Once you done with the body, you can also make clothing for your doll if you like. I felt like my doll needed pants, so I rolled a layer of blue yarn to make them.
A good voodoo doll also needs a heart, so that the owner of the doll knows exactly where to stab if he/she is in a desperate need of hurting someone. Just kidding!! But I think it makes a funny detail.
Next you can make more clothing for your doll if you want to. I made this simple robe by cutting a rectangle piece of felt and making a hole in the middle of it. Then I also made a felt belt (*it rhymes, giggle*). To decorate the belt, I used some beads from a broken bracelet that I had.
To make hair for your doll, cut a piece of yarn and fold it in half before inserting it to the needle. Then place the needle/yarn where you want the hair to be. Take the needle off and pull the loose end of the yarn through the hoop that is in the other end. Make as much of hair that you feel like your doll needs to have.
I wanted my doll's hair to be up, so I braided different colors of yarn into a string. I utilized my broken bracelet again by using a decorative stone from it to decorate the string. Then I just tied the hair up on a ponytail.

Now my doll was only needing a face.
My doll was unfortunate and got only one real button eye and one stitched up one. You can decide if your doll has two button eyes or not. For the mouth I used a simple basting stitch with pink yarn. To make it extra scary I stitched up the mouth with cross stitches.
I armed my doll with few pins and after that I was all done. Let the voodoo begin!
What did I tell you? It is fun, easy and very voodoo. Happy crafting folks!
