"Mummoilua"

Hello!

I know we have barely passed Halloween and are on our way to Thanksgiving but I'm already feeling like Christmas. I can't help but to start planning on presents, cards and baked goods way ahead. I think I bought my first xmas presents already back in July this year. So you bet I'm super excited because stores have started to sell Christmas items now.

This past week and weekend I was doing my best at "mummoilu" which is Finnish and means "doing granny things". Like baking, going to bed at 9pm, wearing wool socks, going for early morning walks, you get point (*giggle*). Part of my "mummoilu" was to prepare for Christmas by baking gingerbread cookie dough and freezing it for December. I think I made three batches. I also went to see my youngest niece and nephew and played with them for a while.

To not to get totally granny-like, I did go to celebrate my friends 25th birthday at a restaurant. We dressed up pretty, ate well and had a glass of bubbly. However, we were totally tired at 10pm and skipped going dancing and went to bed instead. That's pretty "mummo" I guess.

Since I'm a modern young "mummo", I did take pictures to share with you. I have posted some of them already on Instagram and some are just for the blog. Enjoy!

Young "mummo" ready to bike to work on Friday morning.

Here's me when I arrived to work. Just guess the weather...

Gorgeous rowan berries.

Morning walk with Jinx by the lake Kallavesi. Part of the water is already starting to freeze.

Jinx is always posing. I just have to snap the pictures.

On my way to meet my nephew and niece.

My cute nephew and a tiny snowman that we made together. There's not enough snow to make a big one.

Precious moments.

Scott had a birthday this weekend, so I spoiled him with homemade dinner. Steak salad and honey glazed potatoes and yams.

Instead of birthday cake I baked two batches of M&M cookies. One bowlful for Scott and another for my friend Rosa who also celebrated her birthday this weekend.

A proper birthday surprise for Rosa at work...

...and birthday dinner in the evening.

Homemade gingerbread cookie dough ready to be frozen, and then baked closer to Christmas.

I couldn't resist to bake some gingerbread cookies already. The smell of them just melts my heart.

Happy "mummoilu" everyone!!
