Midnight Run Helsinki 2016

Hello!

And happy September to everyone. I started my month very active. In the beginning of September Scott and I went to Helsinki with my niece Jenna. Our main goal was to take part in Midnight run Helsinki and run 10km. We also did some shopping, went to the movies and to a feline night at the zoo.

While we were there we stayed at the Scandic Park Hotel in Helsinki. We had a Superior room on the 7th floor. It was efficient for three people with king size bed and a couch bed. We really loved the free sauna in the mornings and at night as well as the pool. Breakfast was also good and yummy (*nice crispy bacon*).

Here's some pics, I hope you like them.

This time we flew to Helsinki. At the airport.

Our Superior room.

King size bed.

View from our window. You can see Töölönlahti bay in the distance.

Complimentary coffee and tea.

Bathroom.

Selfie time!

Goofing off!

Admiring the view before sauna.

Pool area.

Gorgeous view from the balcony at the pool/sauna area.

I just luuuuv breakfast.

Even though Saturday and Sunday mornings were busy at the times and you had to wait for food occasionally, you could still find seating and tables fairly easy.

Just chilling at the lobby.

Helsinki has some pretty awesome old buildings.

Next up was our 10km run at the Midnight run Helsinki. We haven't run 10km ever, so we were bit worried how we'd do. Both of us are sporty and capable of exercising for quite some time, so we figured it will be ok but not sure about the time.

The start and finish line was held at the Senaatintori square and the route went through the city of Helsinki. Our start time was at 9.47PM. And you guessed it... I was not sure how I would be able to stay up (*and do sports*) that late at night. I'm more of a morning person.

Us scared! Plus wearing our rain coats under our t-shirts because it was pouring!

It was like a monsoon!

Tasting yummy smoothies before the run.

At the Senaatintori, more excited than nervous.

I did like all the lights and music at the Midnight run Helsinki. They kept me awake.

Finish line!

We made it! Soaked yet happy. Our finish time was 64 min which is good for the fact it was our first run and it was so rainy.

Since we had the run and were walking a lot around the city as well, we decided to take a rest and go check out the new Scape theater at Tennispalatsi in Helsinki. Our choice for the movie was Suicide Squad.

The Scape theater is huge! And the sound system is really good. We also liked the movie.

My only complaint about the theater is the seats they have. Sure they have a lot of leg space and plenty of room otherwise but the ankle of the seats is bad for your back. All our backs were hurting after we sat there for two hours.

On our way back home.

One more selfie...

That was my beginning of the month. What have you been doing?
