6 Days After My Surgery

Hi again!

What a day of recuperating I have had. I woke up at 4 am to a terrible headache that would not go away. My throat hurt at one point but it was nothing compared to the headache. I always get horrible headaches when I don't workout regularly, and I haven't been doing any exercise besides walking for few days now. I need to rest because of my throat.

Anyway... I loaded up on painkillers and tried to get some shut eye but I wasn't very lucky. I kept tossing and turning on the couch while holding an ice pack to my head and neck.

To take my mind off from the throbbing pain, I decided to paint my nails. I also decorated them with cute little stickers. Eventually around 8 am I fell back to sleep and  didn't wake up for couple of hours.
Because of the headache I didn't feel like eating anything in the morning even though I was starving. Thank goodness around noon I started to feel better and I was able to eat and take a shower. After that I felt like a new born; sun was shining outside and I was full of energy. My throat didn't bother me at all either. I think it was actually the painkillers that started to work but I didn't care, I was just happy to feel better.

For lunch I had leftovers from yesterday's dinner. I made creamy rice and beans soup by sauteing couple small onions, adding a can of kidney beans as well as heavy cream. I seasoned the soup with salt, pepper and smoky red pepper powder. Then I just blended the soup really well, so it wouldn't hurt my throat. Before serving , I garnished it with sour cream and chives. Yummy!

Later last night I was graving for apples but since I can't eat and swallow anything rough/hard yet, I decided to make baked apples. They turned out great! I was apple to satisfy my graving and get some fiber in my recovery diet.

I used 4 red apples cut into chunks, 2 tablespoons melted butter, a lot of cinnamon and honey. After baking in the oven for about an hour and a half (*at 175C/350F*), I let the apples to cool a bit before puréeing them.

Another good dish to eat when healing from a tonsillectomy! Especially when served with vanilla ice, dash of extra cinnamon and drizzle of honey.

Since I made more than I could eat last night, I had the rest of the apple mush today for a snack. I need to make this more often, it was so delish!

Since the sun was actually shining today (*we have had a lot of cloudy days lately*), Jinx and I took a little walk this afternoon. It felt awesome to enjoy the rays of sun on my face and to breath in fresh air.
After the walk I did stretch for a little bit to make sure my headache wouldn't come back. I was really careful not to strain anything on my neck/throat because my wounds are still healing. I don't want any arteries popping open and starting to bleed.

Soon I will go and try how sleeping will be tonight. Let's hope I will be able to sleep a little bit longer this time. Good night everyone!
