MiniPost / My New Leather Jacket

Hi again!

Like I told you earlier, I went shopping with my nephew this weekend. There's not much more to do besides to shop since it is so cold and crappy outsides (*wink*). So, if I don't have any money left at the end of this month, it is because of the sun. It should show itself more often. Just kidding! We hit all the good sales this weekend and barely spent any money at all.

Carlings was having a major sale and most of their stuff was 50-70% off. I found this cute leather jacket for 45 euros (*originally 150e*). I fits me perfect. Even the sleeves are long enough for my monkey arms, plus it smells like new leather. I love it! My nephew found some neck ties and a hoodie. So, their guy stuff is also on sale.

Besides the jacket, I also found a cute party top from New Yorker for 4,90 euros. You can never have too many sparkly things in your closet (*giggle*).

MiniPost / My New Do

Hi again!

Here's my new hairdo. Not a big change, just a shade darker and a ton shinier.

I love the feeling of freshly cut ends and a good blow out. Why can't a girl have her hair done every day... If I'm ever a millionaire, I'll definitely hire a hair stylist to live with me (*laugh*).

Anyway, my bags are packed, Jinx is off to my sister's loving care and I'm ready for a vacation. Let the adventure to begin...

P.S. I think I found my new bikinis from Victoria's Secret. Go check them out here. I also like these. Decisions, decisions... Once I do decide, I just have to make an order and my new bikinis will be waiting for me when I'll arrive to the US. Then I only need sun&sand.

Hi again!

Here's few pictures from last night. Finland was in the middle of a huge snow storm that started earlier during the day. I took a picture of the crazy snow blowing around as Jinx and I went for a quick walk. It's a really dark picture though since it was already 6pm.

After the walk I made a reindeer-paprika quiche from the left over reindeer meat that we had. I added some feta cheese and onions too. It was delicious!

Last but not least; tired Jinx. He got tired from the walk in the snow.

Hello!

I'm in a surprisingly good mood today for a Monday. Maybe it is because I had an awesome dinner last night. Scott and I made these delicious bacon-lettuce-egg-tomato sandwiches.  There is nothing better than sunny side up eggs (*and BACON*). Little things like gooey egg yolk make me happy. So, turn your frown upside down and be happy with me today. Life is too short to be wasted for being grumpy on Mondays!

Just a quick post before bedtime. Jinx and I played at the park on Friday afternoon and I decided to take few pictures. It has been pretty crappy and rainy weather in our area of Finland but we managed to get out just in right time and missed the rain (*yey*).

MiniPost / Magical Hair And MakeUp

It is amazing what a professional hair and makeup can do! This past Saturday I treated myself for a day of beauty because I was attending my friends wedding. Here's me on the left Saturday morning before any make up. I just rolled out of bed.

Then on the right is me after my awesome hair stylist Hanna did my hair and make up. She works wonders!

Everybody should get treated like this every once in a a while.

Here's couple more close ups that I took in a hurry before the wedding.

This is for my friend Klaara. She wanted to see a picture of me after the whole day was over. Here's me at 2am with my hair undone. My makeup was still looking good. I think I could have slept in my hair and makeup and still looked great in the morning. Thanks Hanna!! You are a magician.

MiniPost / Jinx Is Not A Morning Person

Good morning!

Check out Jinx yesterday morning. He was sooooo tired! He woke up in his own drool when I was getting ready to leave to work. I just had to take a picture. Jinx definitely hates mornings.

This morning he wasn't much more energized either but neither was I. It is really gloomy and rainy outside and I would have rather stayed in bed. But no... I had to drag myself to work. Now I'm on my coffee break but I don't drink coffee, so I'm trying to wake myself up with a glass of Dr.Pepper. Cheers!

MiniPost / Death To The Fruit Flies

Hello darlings!

How's it going? I'm good. Just hanging out with Scott and my nephew Eetu. It is nice to have a slow Sunday for a change. Today I don't feel like making a long post because I want to get back to relaxing on the couch. But since we are battling with an army of fruit flies, I figured I'll post my secret recipe how to get rid of them. 

Mix together in a small bowl:

- 3 tbsp honey vinegar

- 2 tbsp water

- 1/2 tsp sugar

- 3 drops of dish soap

Leave the bowl out on your kitchen counter and watch the stupid fruit flies to die (*muahhhaahhhaaa*).

This actually works really good as you can see from my pictures. If you wonder what's the secret of this simple fruit fly trap, you will need to go back to your chemistry class. Here is how it works: honey and sugar act as a lure and when fruit flies try to land on the liquid to drink it, they'll drown because the soap has broken the surface tension of the liquid. Genius!

Bye, bye annoying fruit flies!!

MiniPost / My New Raincoat

Good Morning!

Check out my new raincoat I bought while I was in the USA. It is made by Columbia and it is awesome! It is actually so awesome that everytime I have put it on, the rain stops. So, I really haven't had a chance to test it out. For two days now the forecast has been rainy and as soon as I step out there is no rain. Which is good because I hate the rain anyway. But it feels stupid to be wearing a raincoat when it doesn't rain. Yet I know that as soon as I don't take my new coat along, it will pour.

Hi again!

I'm just doing miniposts today because nothing really exciting is going on. I worked late and then hurried home. The weather sucks. Slushy, wet snow once again (*mad*)! I rode my bike home and I got soaked.

MiniPost / Where Have My Keys Gone?

Hey there!

This explains all the times when I couldn't find my keys or my wallet...

Thank goodness I did find my keys this morning and made it to work on time. Too bad the weather is still crap, and the bike ride to work was more slip and slide than smooth riding. And my back is so bad that I had to skip my hotpilates class last night. I was so bummed out. I hope today gets better... At least I can be happy about the fact that our trip to the US is only 38 days away (*wohoo*).

Hello!

After a quick try of the new AngryBirds Space game, I can say that it is very entertaining. As the name tells you, the birds are after the pigs in space this time. Since there is no gravity in space, you can control the birds differently than before. It takes little time to get used to it but it seems to be pretty wicked. I suggest you download your copy soon!

And don't forget to buy these cool HockeyBird stamps that the Finnish postal service released to the market on the 21st of March. This is the official stamp of the ice hockey world championship 2012. The tournament itself will be played from 4 to 20 May. I can't wait!

According to the Finnish postal service, the stamp and additional products are designed by the man behind the look of the HockeyBird mascot itself. He is, of course, Lead Artist Toni Kysenius of Rovio Entertainment, who has now fulfilled his long-time dream of designing a stamp.

I haven't bought my HockeyBird stamps yet and I know I need to hurry because there are only 5 million of them printed.

MiniPost / Morning Sweat

Hello again!

I promised this morning that I would tell you how my "morning sweat" workout class went. Well, it was sweaty! First we had 35 minutes of cardio which was fairly intensive. Lots of jumping around. Then we did crunches, push ups and hip extension. In the end we had simple stretches and a short relaxation exercise. After the class I quickly went to my friend's place to take a shower and then I got myself ready for work. I think I should workout more in the mornings because I felt awesome and I had tons of energy today. I recommend morning workouts to everybody!

Since I really didn't want to post pictures of me all sweaty, I decided to share these cute and sunny pictures instead. I took these pics yesterday when I went for a walk with Jinx in the woods. It was cold outside but it was so pretty because the sun was shining through the trees into the snowy woods. Jinx loved to run around free! He was wearing his sweater and that helped him to stay warm and we were able to be there for 30 minutes. Then he started to lift up his paws because they got cold. It was time to go home.

Biking In Subzero Temperatures, And Healthy Lunch

Hello again!

Holy crap it is cold in Finland right now! Our thermometer was at -26C / -15F this morning. Guess who biked to work though? Me! 

I thought it would be tough but it wasn't too bad. I had my snow pants over my regular clothes and I wore my down coat. Then I had my red silk scarf wrapped around my neck so that I could pull it over my face if I couldn't breath the cold air. But it wasn't bad at all! My bike gears had frozen on the first gear, so I couldn't go fast but that was okay because then I wasn't breathing too hard. 

But I was laughing in my mind at the idea of me biking at 6.30am in this crazy cold temperature, I must be nuts. But I'm not nuts, I'm just lazy... I didn't feel like walking in that temperature. Of course the buses are running just normal but I rather save my money for new clothes than pay for the ridiculous bus fares. Well, I guess that makes me nuts. Ha ha ha!

Anyway, my post was supposed to be about healthy lunch. Here's what I have for lunch today...

Turkey-Salami-Spinach sandwiches with Cheese

On whole rye bread of course.

I have sliced Mineola Mandarins with Avocado with the sandwiches 

This great lunch will keep me going all day today. I highly recommend this to you too!
There are many reasons why this is a good lunch:
-I will get a ton of fiber from rye bread and avocado
-spinach and mandarins are packed with very good vitamins and minerals
-cheese will provide me with calcium + I will drink milk with the lunch
-turkey is full of protein
-I will get good fats from avocado
-salami is really just for the salty taste, it is not so healthy but I made sure I picked the salami that has the least amount of e-codes and no msg

Hello!

I can't believe it! I didn't get any donuts because the stupid (and only) donut place in town was closed due to remodeling. Just my luck! I got off work and hurried to the donut place just to find out it was closed. I am so bummed out!! I only wanted to eat a crap load of donuts...

Thank goodness my friend Klaara surprised me with a Birthday Survival Kit. At least I have that since I didn't get the donuts. How cool and handy idea is this survival kit?! It has everything that a birthday girl could need: 

-Lots of candy for sugar high

-ED-energy drink to keep me partying all night long

-Straws to protect my teeth from the fizzy drink

-Nuts and dried fruit as the healthy snack

-Candy whistle for me to call for help after my sugar levels drop

-Chocolate for the day after
