Starting My Day On The Wrong Foot

Hi there!

Sorry for no posts lately. I have been bummed out because I happened to get an inflamed tendon on my foot. Too much walking and running, and staying on my feet. My back has been sore as well, so I have been avoiding sitting down and now my foot got messed up. So stupid!

I went to the doctor last week and I was told to stay off from my foot for few days. Easier said than done. I hate to just lay around for too long. I'm used to coming and going. Plus my back doesn't like me sitting down, so I can really just lay on my stomach. That being said, you may guess how tan my back is now since I have been laying in the sun and reading magazines and books.

I understand that it is good to take a rest every now and then, and even more important when you have an injury. I just don't like it. I'm so used to starting my day with a walk or run, that it totally messes me up if I don't do it. I also noticed that I don't sleep as well when I don't exercise. I have been tossing and turning and waking up with a headache.

Of course I didn't totally stop working out. I have been doing exercises that don't require standing up or pushing with my foot. So lot of push ups (*on my knees*), sit ups and all other types of upper body workouts. Just something to keep my body going.

Thanks for listening to my rant. It feels good to vent out. Now pictures... I have quite a few I haven't shared with you yet.

Morning walk before my foot got messed up. It has been fairly humid, so not as much of running since it is so hard to breath.

Foggy morning last week.

Blue day but only because of my outfit. I was feeling just fine. This was also before my stupid foot.

Taco Wednesday! Jinx was sure he was going to get some of the food and he kept licking his lips.

Too bad buddy boy. None for you this time (*giggle*).

My Taco Bell taco sauce stock is getting alarmingly low. We don't have Taco Bell in Finland, so I'm relying on bringing a ton back with me every time we visit the USA.

Lunch break at a park near my work.

My stupid foot on ice.

I have to be super sick or sore to lose my appetite. I love food! Here's my delicious breakfast from last Friday.

I was laughing that I'm going to turn in to a blueberry because I eat them so much! But I love them. Here's my chia seed jelly with blueberries. I just soaked the seeds in homemade ice green tea for few hours and they turned into a jelly like goo (*tastes good though*).

Afternoon snack on Friday; a yummy smoothie. And yes, I was this bored that I took pictures of all my food  that I ate.

Delicious dinner from Friday. Steak with salad and poached eggs.

And I didn't forget dessert either! Strawberry shortcake.

Remember the pretty cherry blossoms this spring? They are now gorgeous red cherries.

Hopping on one foot and checking out my tan. Jinx waiting on the background to see if I would take him out for a run (*sadly no*).

Little medicine for my sore foot  on Saturday (*wink*).

One stupid foot.

One cool dog.

Tanning... I mean resting my foot like the doctor told me to do.

Healthy snack; natural yogurt with nuts, seeds and berries.

Enjoying the warm summer evening with Jinx and nonsense chick lit.

Jinx got tired and fell asleep.

That's all for now. Tomorrow I'm going to see my doctor again and we'll see if he will inject a cortisone shot into my foot. Not looking forward to that (*yikes*).

My Makeover In Olivia Magazine

Hey there!!

First I was about to make a post showing the gingerbread cookies I baked but then my mailman delivered me the newest copy of Olivia magazine, and look who is in it. Screw the cookies, I want to show off this gorgeous girl (*giggle*).

Weird to see my huge face in a magazine.

I told you about my makeover with Olivia magazine last month. Now they published my story and pics. It is the January issue which is awesome since my birthday is in January. So it is indeed my month&magazine.

Yeah, I wasn't in the cover though... I wonder why (*hahaha*).

Before and after pics.

I shared the makeover day with another girl.

To read the whole article, you'll have to go and buy your own copy. It is in Finnish though. But I thinks the pics tell almost more than anything else. I love my bangs (*smile*).

My Weekend Full Of Christmas Stuff

Hello!

Since I had a long weekend due to Finnish Independence Day, I got a ton of Christmas stuff accomplished. I wrote all my xmas cards, baked gingerbread cookies (*I'll make a separate post about them*), went for a walk in the wintery woods and cooked a yummy dinner. Here's pictures of course...

Huge pile of xmas cards.

I love the xmas stamps that the Finnish postal service published this year. They are cute!

New winter inspired book by Jenni Peltonen. I figured that since I can't fight the winter, I might as well join it. Thus, I bought this book. It has so many awesome ideas I want to try.

Teriyaki Salmon with carrot-paprika noodles. Yummy!

Ready for a walk!

I hate winter but I love how it looks. What a crazy love/hate relationship!

Jinx enjoys walks in the woods with or without snow.

Happy Week Everyone! Only 15 days till Christmas...

4 Days After My Surgery

Hello and happy Sunday!

Day four for my recovery after tonsillectomy and it is still going good (*day 3 was the same than day 4*). I'm ok during the day and I can swallow just fine with little pain but night time really sucks.

I can only sleep about 2 hours and then I wake up to my mouth and throat being really dry, and when I swallow it hurts like hell. I keep a glass full of water next to me at all times but it is kinda hard to keep drinking and sleep at the same time (*giggle*). But all this was expected and not unusual.

Another interesting fact that I have realized after the surgery, is that I didn't expect my ability to swallow change but it did. Most of liquids that I swallow go down my throat just fine but sometimes it comes out of my nose! To understand why this was happening, I had to research it online (*I'm very curious*). I found out that since my tonsils are gone and my sinus airway is now larger, my little muscles in my throat don't know how to work properly. A good thing is though, that they will be trained back to normal in few weeks. So, everything that I eat or drink is like physical therapy for the muscles in my throat.

To beat boredom of staying still and resting, I have started to knit. I haven't been knitting at all this winter because my wrist was a little messed up but it seems to be ok now. I started to make mittens yesterday, and I'm using Novita's 7 Veljestä-yarn along with Novita's luxurious mohair Silmu-yarn to make them. I should have them finished today.

Besides knitting I have been reading a lot like I told you before. My friend Anu brought me a big pile of magazines, so I won't run out of reading (*thanks babe*). I also ordered the third Fifty Shades of Grey-book from Play.com. It should be here any day now.

That's about it for now. Jinx wanted to say "Hello" to everyone too. He is starting to get a white beard like old men do but I think that only makes him cuter (*he is quite the charmer*).
Jinx is not understanding why I don't want to go running or play rough with him right now but he is being really sweet by resting his head on my lap every now and then. He is also keen on licking all the yogurt cups that I'm done eating. Funny dog!

That's my update for today. I think I'm going to take a short nap now and then maybe pop outside for a bit. It is a cloudy yet fairly warm day in Kuopio (-2C/28F). Bye for now!!

GoodBuy / Boots And Books

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I love my mailman when he brings me packages and not bills (*giggle*). I finally got my boots and a book that I ordered. Yey! Let me tell you more about my purchases...

My new boots from H&M are marvelous! I love them. The leather is so soft and they feel really good on my feet. They also look good with many outfits. I'm happy they are this great and I didn't have to return them. You never know when ordering stuff online.

I got them in size 40 and they fit me perfect. My feet are really narrow&long and I have often problems finding shoes that fit me right. These boots hug my feet but they aren't too tight and I'm actually able to wear a pair of wool socks also if I need to. I know I will need thicker socks for the winter because these boots don't have a very warm lining (*the only bad thing about them*). But that's ok because I love wearing wool socks. These boots also have a really good and sturdy soles. They shouldn't slip when the ground gets covered with snow.

My other purchase was book called Fifty Shades Darker which is a continuation to the book Fifty Shades of Grey. I'm not going to write much more about it now because I just want to finish reading it first. I'll make a new post about it later on. I'm sure this one is also a page turner like the first book. It is bit naughty, bit nice and a lot of sexy.

That's all for this grey day (*not sexy hot Grey but boring rainy kind of grey*). I'm off to finish up some Halloween projects I have been working on, and then I hope I have some time to read my new book. Laters, baby!
