Good morning!
What a great win for team Finland last night! I know it was only against team France but it still feels good to win 7-1. Wins like that build up confidence in the team. And we need all the confidence and skill tonight since team Finland is playing against team Canada. It will be a great game. I already know it!
But back to last night's game... I was so proud to see Tuomas "Kisu" Kiiskinen on the ice. Tuomas Kiiskinen is from Kuopio and he used to play in KalPa up until end of this season. He is switching over to KHL for the next season, and he will be playing for team HC Donbass in Ukraine. It will be a loss for KalPa but I'm sure it will be good for Kiiskinen's career. Anyway, last night it was his men's world championship game debut and he was great on the ice! A bit shaky at first and not up to his usual level of game play but as the night went on, he started show his talent.
Oh, and were you wondering about the nickname Kisu? Well, it is Finnish and it means a kitten. Tuomas Kiiskinen isn't the biggest player on ice, yet he is a skilled skater and very agile, and since his last name is Kiiskinen, it is just easier to call him kitten. Well, I think his English name should be Tuomas "Kitty" Kiiskinen.
All I have to say is that I was really glad to see Kitty skate along with the pack of Lions last night.
While the Lions scored on ice, I scored at the grocery store before the game (*giggle*). I found these awesome FINNISH beefsteak tomatoes that were absolutely sweet and perfect ripeness. Why am I so excited about tomatoes? Well, Finns do not know that what is a good tomato and what is not. Many Finns eat their tomatoes before they are even ripe and they have no flavor. The stores actually sell hard unripe tomatoes because Finns preffer them that way! I hate it. I want my tomatoes soft and ripe with full of flavor. So I was tickeld pink (*or should I say red like tomato*) when I saw these bad boys in the store yesterday. I was equally glad about the fact that these tomatoes were Finnish. It is always better to buy local than buy something that is hauled from other side of the world.
These wonderful tomatoes got me inspired to make a wonderful basil-mozzarella-tomato salad with drizzle of olive oil and black pepper. YUMMY! Since we can't live with just bunny food, for the protein I cooked pork chops. Scott whipped up a great honey-mustard sauce for the chops to dipped in, and voilá! Our dinner was served.
that salad looks great!
